A Student’s First Voice
In a rural classroom, a student shared how floods had kept her out of school for weeks. It was the first time she spoke publicly. The session ended with questions, not silence.
The Himalayan region, often called the 'Third Pole,' holds the largest reserve of ice outside the Arctic and Antarctic and directly supports the water security of over a billion people across Asia.
Unfortunately, communities living closest to these mountains face the greatest climate risks while having the least access to climate education, resources, and decision-making power. Rising temperatures, glacier retreat, and extreme weather are already disrupting livelihoods and health in rural Nepal.
Our work addresses this gap by addressing climate action in education, local knowledge, and youth leadership to ensure that the most affected individuals are also the most equipped to respond.

“At our core, we believe that environmental protection and quality education must go hand in hand. Lasting change does not come only from awareness, but from empowering people with knowledge, skills, and the confidence to act. Through our work with students, communities, and local institutions, we remain committed to building practical solutions that are inclusive, grounded, and sustainable. Together, we continue to learn, adapt, and work toward a more resilient future.”
Atal Dev Dhakal — Executive Director/CEO
“Our work is guided by a simple belief: meaningful change begins when people are given the opportunity to learn, question, and participate. By connecting environmental action with education, we aim to support communities in building solutions that are practical, inclusive, and rooted in local realities. As we move forward, we remain committed to collaboration, accountability, and long-term impact.”

In a rural classroom, a student shared how floods had kept her out of school for weeks. It was the first time she spoke publicly. The session ended with questions, not silence.

Students, parents, and teachers met to talk about water, waste, and what could realistically change in their village. No speeches. Just shared problems and practical ideas.

Students from different schools planned and ran the event themselves. Adults listened. The discussions moved from awareness to what could actually be done next.

Our approach combines climate education, community engagement, and youth leadership together. Through school-based programs, local workshops, and youth-led initiatives, we equip students and communities with the skills to understand environmental and climate risks, respond to local environmental challenges, and participate in local actions. By anchoring our work in contextually relevant interventions, we promote solutions that are inclusive and that communities can sustain over time.

Those who contemplate the beauty of the Earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature—the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.
